A DOMUNI Universitas Graduate Publishes a Work on the Role of the Laity in the Seychelles

Pierre Madiela, who graduated with a Master of Arts (MA2) in Theology from DOMUNI Universitas in 2021, has published Le laïc dans la pastorale de l’Église aux Seychelles with Éditions L’Harmattan. This work offers an in-depth analysis of the role of laypeople in the Catholic Church in the Seychelles, drawing on the author’s pastoral experience as well as on the orientations of the Second Vatican Council.

Across 196 pages, Madiela examines the challenges and opportunities facing the laity within an insular context shaped by specific religious traditions and a continuously evolving pastoral vitality. The book combines theological reflection, sociocultural observation, and concrete proposals aimed at better integrating lay faithful into the mission of the Church.

This work also illustrates the exemplary trajectory of a DOMUNI Universitas graduate, demonstrating how distance academic training can support a relevant and contextualized pastoral reflection, capable of nurturing dialogue between theology, mission, and society.
