[Domuni Research Institute] Three International Research Webinars: Theology, Eschatology and Artificial Intelligence
18 october 2026
The DOMUNI Research Institute is organising three international webinars devoted to major issues in contemporary research at the intersection of theology, culture, the humanities and the transformations taking place in our societies.
Held entirely online and offered in several languages, these events will bring together researchers and students from diverse backgrounds to discuss intellectual, spiritual, social and ethical questions. Conceived as spaces for reflection and dialogue, they will encourage exchanges among participants, the comparison of different perspectives and the collective exploration of new avenues of research.
Open to academic staff, researchers, doctoral candidates, master's students and anyone interested in the topics addressed, these webinars will provide an opportunity to discover scholarly work, explore shared questions in greater depth and contribute to collective reflection on an international scale.
1. Theology, Liturgy, Poetry and Artistic Expression
17 and 18 November 2026
17 November: 2:00–5:00 p.m.
18 November: 1:30–5:15 p.m.
How do art, poetry and liturgy give shape to theological thought and spiritual experience?
This first webinar invites participants to explore the many forms of theological expression: text, poetic language, liturgy, song, images and devotional practices. Particular attention will be paid to the relationships and transitions between these different modes of expression, from theology to poetry and liturgy, from text to image, and from artistic expression to spiritual practices.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, the discussions will examine how theology, liturgy and the arts jointly contribute to the human quest for meaning, beauty and transcendence. They will provide an opportunity to reflect on how theological, liturgical and artistic heritage is transmitted; the role of beauty, images and poetry in this transmission; and the transformations brought about by new forms of communication and digital culture in our relationship with texts, images and religious traditions.

2. Eschatology and the Contemporary World
24 and 25 February 2027 — 2:00–5:00 p.m.
How have representations of the end times, hope and salvation, inherited from early Christianity, evolved throughout history, and how do they continue to influence our societies?
This second webinar proposes a return to the sources of Christianity and their historical, theological and cultural developments in order to examine the place of eschatological conceptions in the contemporary world.
Discussions will focus in particular on how references to God, providence and redemption, whether individual or collective, feature in public and political discourse. They will also explore how eschatological traditions continue to shape interpretations of history, collective expectations and reflections on the future of humanity.
This cross-disciplinary approach will provide a deeper understanding of the eschatological heritage of early Christianity and its transformations over the centuries. It will invite participants to examine the influence of religious representations of the end times, hope and salvation on contemporary social and political discourse, while considering how current crises, cultural changes and uncertainties about the future are renewing eschatological questions.
Registration deadline: 31 January 2027.

3. Artificial Intelligence: Leadership, Creativity, Access and Inequalities
26 and 27 May 2027 — 2:00–5:00 p.m.
How is artificial intelligence transforming the ways we create, learn, make decisions and collaborate?
This third webinar focuses on the cultural, ethical and social challenges of artificial intelligence, as well as its interactions with human activities in different geographical and cultural contexts.
From an interdisciplinary perspective, it will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming forms of leadership, creative processes, modes of knowledge production and transmission, and opportunities for accessing resources and new technologies. Particular attention will be given to the interactions between human capabilities and artificial intelligence systems, especially in the fields of decision-making, creativity, education and communication.
These transformations open up new possibilities but also raise essential questions. While artificial intelligence can help broaden access to knowledge, education and resources, it may also exacerbate certain inequalities and give rise to new forms of exclusion and technological dependence.
The discussions will therefore examine changes in leadership, creativity and collaboration between human beings and technologies, as well as the conditions required for the development of artificial intelligence that respects human responsibility, social justice and cultural diversity. Particular attention will be paid to the role of human intelligence and the quality of social relationships in environments increasingly shaped by these technologies.
Registration deadline: 30 April 2027.

Practical Information and Registration
Organised by the DOMUNI Research Institute, the three webinars will take place entirely online in an international and multilingual setting. They are open to academic staff, researchers, doctoral candidates, master's students and students interested in the proposed topics.
Participation requires registration through the online form available in the presentation of each webinar.
The scientific coordination of these events is overseen by Dr Srećko Koralija, O.P.
Research Open to International Dialogue
Through these three events, the DOMUNI Research Institute seeks to encourage research that engages with the major questions of our time and remains open to dialogue across disciplines, traditions and cultures.
By bringing together knowledge, methods and experiences, these webinars aim to foster shared scientific reflection, in which the diversity of perspectives becomes a valuable resource for advancing research.
The DOMUNI Research Institute invites you to take part in these international exchanges and contribute, together, to research that is dynamic, rigorous and open to the world.
